pretty f**kin' cool. While the rest worries about some idiotic war, these guys at least do something worthwhile. Hopefully will awaken some people.
I grew up expecting that by this time I would be having vacations in Moon's Vale Marinaris... C'mon people, we quitted before Star Wars, how shitty is that?

worthwhile????! Putting some dude up in space to rotate around the earth 14 times? - it's like a f*******n expensive air balloon trip!!
Wouldn't worthwhile be something like - "gee we have all this excess cash that we COULD spend on sending someone to the moon - but maybe we should help these MILLIONS of starving people around the world - hell watching spaceships will be so much better received if people have had something to eat!"
uh yea.

You're so boring, Cookie ;)

wouldnt knock it most of the patents registered in the us are a direct result of NASA. space exporation is responsible for microwaves, teflon, freeze drying, vacuum packing to name but a few.
It promotes invention.
give it 30 years we will all be eating noodles. China could easily kick everyones ass. thats why no one fucks with north korea like they did with Iraq.
1 billion people, rich, technologically advanced, and opening up its borders. look out.

Cookie.
I prefer to see billions wasted in spaceflight than in any war. You know how much technology we use nowadays made possible by the space program 30 years ago? Technology that saved and will save many lives...

exactly unfittoprint
dont forget the internet was a military invention. and the technology to make the internet possible was as a result of collaberation between Nasa and the US army.

What was that proverb?
"Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day, teach him how to spot fish migration patterns from space and he'll live forever or something...

I really hope this will jolt NASA out the complacent beauricartic PR machine it's become in the last 20 plus years.
congrats China!

Open Letter to China:
Now that you've figured out how to put a man into space, you think you could spend some time tinkering with Civil Liberties and Human Rights?
Shouldn't be to tough for a bunch of L337 5P4c3 h4x4or5 like yourselves.
- mrdobolina0
congrats, he is a hero to his people.
- mrdobolina0
american civil rights movement started after 1961, hopefully it is a sign.

The Chinese leadership is obsessed with propaganda. The reality of China is a country where wealth aggregates towards a few highly polluted urban centres and hundreds of thousands of country people die of starvation each year there is a less than average harvest. China needs a man in space like it needs a collective hole in its collective head. Have the courage to manage, devolve political and economic power to regions. That is the only way China can earn international respect; not by stupid grandiose gestures with second hand Russian technology.
You guys are clueless.

just one? really?
