i smell a trend..
it's everywhere, MTV, fashion, design.. etc.
I wouldn't mind having either of 'em.
70's sportscars, bikini's, guns, burnt rubber, raw beats.
anything to add?

hmmm ...
well ...
there are certain absolutes in advertising ....
one of them is sex ...
the other is speed (cars)
so this trend should be classified as more of a
commandment of sorts.a hardwired constant in the human character.
*sigh
*turns on Dukes of Hazzard

I think it's strange the way the seventies seem so familiar to me, but I didn't exist during them.

"there are certain absolutes in advertising .... one of them is sex ... "
Although a lot of firms exercise that method, I would disagree there. There is good and bad use of Nudity/sex:
If there is a relevant and functional reason to justify nudity in advertisements I am all for it (cosmetics, etc.),
However mooking up an ad with nudes that has no relevance to the product is false advertising. To me it shows a lack of creativity and proffesionality from the agencies side.Except for beer commercials. People ask me if there really is a "Swedish Bikini team" all the time. ;)
There's a good book out there by David Ogilvy called "Ogilvy on Advertising". It's a great read on that topic.
Oh, the thread was about 70's. Sorry, moving on...

the year we made contact,
....... with polyester.---------------------------->
well i guess the seventies man and woman represent to us a pre-aids innocence that we yearn to someday return to. and since we can't return, we make a mockery of ourselves and ride the clone fluff advertising rainbow to the pot of cocaine encrusted lucky charms at it's end.trust me ... i've been to the other side, i've tasted the purple horseshoe .... and if this silly rabit knows one thing, it's that the keebler elves owe me money, those little ass-tards ... why i outta ....
oop, sorry ... i digress ....
anyway ... about my cod fish martini recipe ....

hmmm, i reckon that 70's excess chic is already tired.
Get with it kids!I think it's popular because many of us were young and it reminds us of our childhood, which is generally happy, we can't remember all the nasty things that happened then.
As bourne out by many comments in this thread.
Anyway i can talk, i only lived through half of that decade.

blofeldts right - retro rehash is so f*king boring, obvious nostalgic references that are worn by kids who dont even know what an atari 2600 is... its just wide open to be exploited by talentless hacks, let them run for pictures of me* to scan and streamline
