If I will to start to learn after effects today, how long will it take me to achieve my goal...

AE isn't not that hard to "learn", however it takes alot of time/experience to be a good motion graphics designer.

I hear it's not so easy to learn, but I'm sure if you take your time and reaed all about it, without just hacking at it, you'll get good.

AE is very easy to learn the basics...however, i suggest you take your time, read everything you can, and experiment a LOT before trying to create an intensive piece...motion gets very complicated...there are some things possible in AE that are better done in other software (for example keying out backgrounds and compositing)...try to look for things like that...make sure your software choices are appropriate...i guess what i mean is the program is easy to learn but the medium (motion) is rather daunting...at least to me

thank you very much now im so phsyche up for the comments... ill sure learn a.e and hopefully ill make a blast next year.. im already into the digital abstract scene and just want to animate my pieces,, ln a.e ill buy books defenitely and dl some tuts on the net.. ca u suggest some good sites to learn though besides book reading...?
