AE is very easy to learn the basics...however, i suggest you take your time, read everything you can, and experiment a LOT before trying to create an intensive piece...motion gets very complicated...there are some things possible in AE that are better done in other software (for example keying out backgrounds and compositing)...try to look for things like that...make sure your software choices are appropriate...i guess what i mean is the program is easy to learn but the medium (motion) is rather daunting...at least to me
