maybe you should thank M$ for stealing someone else's patent using it in IE and refuse to pay licence (like pretty much all their "innovations" LOL) read the eWeek article below:

they didn't steal anyones patent and btw, this 'they' that everyone is talking about is actually a 'he'. (singular)
anyway, he patented a technology that others had already created. he did nothing new, but just tried to capitalize on something he created that microsoft didn't want to purchase from him. he is not the inventor of some unbelievable new technology... he simply holds the patent to a hinge (one that anyone, and may could and have created) that allows us to integrate our beloved flash, java, and quicktime applications into our web pages.
in short. he is the effin ANTICHRIST!!!

mitsu is exactly right, that's the way patents work. It's like a fucking stranglehold on something. Not that MS is any better but these jockers at Eolas are going to screw up Flash and Java.
