Rare Helvetica

Can anyone point me to some (very) rare variations on Helvetica that were designed I believe somewhere back in the Seventies. One of the most outstanding variations on it is one with very curly ends.. some kind of script font while still carrying the name Helvetica.
I am afraid these where never transformed for use on the computer, but still I would love to see some information about it.
I just saw it swiftly in a book yesterday, which I did not buy because the rest was far too boring.
Thanx.

Helvetica in a Hamper
by Chank, but I can't find it on their site. http://www.chank.comI could swear I had one called Schmelvetica too, but no luck there either.

shit, actually I did see some varieties of it, specifically from the 70's, in a book on Helvetica. Do you ever see something that you know you should buy and then regret that you didn't. Hmm, if I can think of the book it might be online.

Arial is a variation of Helvetica. Microsoft is so good for design.

ok, ok. thanks so far.
to make things clear.. it seemed that the variations carried the real Helvetica name and thus appeared as part of the Helvetica family.
JazX is close. Anyone out there with a Helvetica book or other material featuring the variations on Helvetica, please?
I need pictures/names.
Thanks.

I sorta' knew what you were gettin' at, let me think about it and this thread is pink so it should come up nicely. Maybe do a small search on typography books and such. (x_X)

Cool man, yeah it seems like it's quite popular, you should easily find it in the cool Euro bookstores, we have limited cool bookstores on this side, NYC has most of them. I hope this helps, I'm not sure if it was in this book, but it seems popular... :)

I've got "Helvetica: Homage to a Typeface" and don't remember seeing any variations like the ones you mentioned. It's all pretty standard Helvetica throughout.
