The only thing that's depressing is the fact that they seem to have given up, broken up or are just sitting on their asses. I hate when musical groups get away with that.

get some Julio Iglesias on your headphones

they gave one of the best concerts I saw.
Get your asses on the road again, goddamnit!

I think Portishead are brilliant. Yes they can be depressing but also smooth and kinda erie! I seen the live concert they did in New York (in the TV) and they were amazing.
I think they have split up now and the lead singer, Beth (I think that's her name) has gone solo. Not sure, anyone know?

yeah, she gave a concert here in Lisbon with her new project. unfortunately I missed it...

Yeah she has gone solo. Thom Yorke raves about her (so I have read).

Depends on how you look at it. They are mood shifting for sure. I saw them once and they were great, even though they rarely tour. Not the famous Roseland NYC show, where they recorded the album, but in '98 in Cologne. DE: http://db.etree.org/lookup_show.…

she actually did an album not too long ago, but I don't believe it was Trip-Hop oriented. She will end up doing Jazz or something.
