I learned in the computer lab at Ithaca College in 1995 from my friend. I used notepad on my WIN 3.1 486 hand-me-down.
That summer I went around to all the local businesses and tried to sell my web design services. I made "logos" in MS paint! Yeesh. I didnt' make a dollar.

I didn't get my own computer with modem until Xmas time '98 (sad). Surfed the net, saw a bunch of Geocities banners, checked personal websites for the first time and opened a Geocities account a few days later and built my lame site with the Geocities tools.

Then later producing an online design magazine with thousands of visitors per day in GoLive, and still with no idea how to write a proper link in html... It works for me!

The second website I ever made for money was back in 96 or 97. This company is still using the same site (I'm proud to say). It's almost 8 years old.
I wish I could say the same about sites I made 2 years ago.

"like the gif89 export? :o)"
All I can remember was that the static gif editor and the animated gif editor were seperate interfaces, and since 33.6 modems were the latest and greatest we actually exported gif's with less than 256 colors. (I can't remember the last time I did that either)
