when i started doing web site development/design i was using (don't laugh) MS front page and MS image composer! I thought I was hot shit too... so i'm curious, what did most of you start out/learn on?
- fits0
yo i started on the exact same!

i started out with notepad, still use it sometimes although DW is the main app now.
Aaah good times! I've never been so happy as I was when my first img src tag worked. It was a homer simpson gif with a white frame on a screaming yellow background. Wish I still had it somewhere...

Adobe GoLive4. Not too bad actually... A little bit sloppy especially if you don't know what the hell you are doing.

I learned on:
Photoshop 3.1
Freehand 8
Illustrator 7
Pagemaker 6The first wysiwyg i saw was pagemill and i thought it was so cool at the time. Of course this was all in the mid 90s.

my first lesson was watching a friend working on site with...I think it was HotMeTaL...somewhen in the late 90's.
...then I bought a HTML book, and when I finally got a cable connection I looked everything up on the net, coding html on bbedit...like last year or so, I begann to use dreamweaver, because it has begun to write clean code...
...so now (well actually not working on websites at the moment) I use a combination of dreamweaver, homesite and bbedit or any other editor:_)

some unix text editor. it took me forever to figure out how to make and put images in the page. for a while i was just setting my img sources with absolute paths. i probably pissed off a couple of people with that maneuver.

I started with photoshop 3 on an old "power computing" mac. (started for the usual reasons: cloning bikinis off of models from scanned ads.)
couple years after that started doing web stuff with netobjects (viva le clearpixel! :)

i started with an html book and vi.
i still use vi daily for coding. dreamweaver mx is ok, it has some nice features ('sites' mainly).
but, i'll never use a wys editor. i prefer coding ide's.

before I ever even saw frontpage or dw, I used some weird editor called hotdog or something. It sucked, so I started to teach myself html using notepad and beatup code that hotdog generated. fucking hotdog. ahahha
