Technology by the Numbers
CNET News Radio:Camera phones real popular but wheres the revenue stream? The snapshots taken on camera phones need to go somewhere. You could move em to your PC sure but whats the point, they don't look good enough to print out or do anything with them except SEND and there in lies the answer. Zelos group research predicts that we'll spend about 10 million dollars this year sending photos from our mobile devices (camera phones), that will ramp up to 45 million dollars of sending next year over 100 million dollars worth in 2005 all the way on up to a 440 million dollar business in 2008. thats when over 150 million camera phones will be sold around the world. camera phones are poised to create huge increases in our usage in both airtime and dataminutes on our mobile calling plans.
Suckers.....

only problem, shit resolution

think marginal utility. if people don't feel the extra airtime costs are worth it, they won't use it.

but whether you think it is silly or not (it is often used for silly purposes now) the revolution will occur.
once it's all integrated in society we will all use it for our daily distractions just as we send our voices by millions everywhere via a slick piece of plastic.

It's all baby steps towards a practical wireless data network. They have to pay for the infrastructure somehow, why not with the dollars of the frivolous geeks?
- 187LockDown0
Paid for by millions of guys taking pictures of girls asses and sending them to their friends.

Hell yeah, that's our legacy. We shall pass on our perverted obsessions to posterity.

exactly Lockdown, let the horny basterds pay for the wireless revolution.. just like Mimio said.
it all started with porn anyway!
- Mimio0
In 1998, something like 90% of all profitable businesses online were porn or adult related.

it's a good idea, just in it's infancy

So does this mean that the quality of the pics will not ever get better. Because if the quality of the images get better, then everyone will DL them to the PC and send them alternate ways which do not cost money, like email.
