anyone experiencing the same problems running MX on OS X that i do? i mean the most basic things don't really seem to work properly, like selecting items on stage takes ages, especially working with dynamic text whioch renders like shit. flash 5 has been a slow pain in the ass on macs compared to PCs, but now things got even worse. anyone ?

wish i could check it out
but there is no OS X machine I can use at work.
Grrr.you sure you've got 10.2.6?

I have some tool probs too.
Sometimes when I change from a selecting tool to other it just don't work.
Dynamic fields I don't have problems, but I must use CodePage for rendering accents and so...

and are you talking about the trial or a . . . ill-gotten version?
or retail?

reading these things does NOT make me feel good.
I am downloading it on our test machine.
I'll post my experiences.

actually, no. the only problem that i have is when i move from flash to another program or the desktop, all my pallets dissapear and i have to re-select them all. maybe you need to do some maintenance on your computer. download 'cocktail' if you havent (www.macupdate.com) and run cron scripts and repair permissions. also, if you have diskwarrior, run it. it cures all....

I have a 667 mhz powerbook running 10.1 with legit Studio MX. I have the same issues, it runs like shit. Shame of Macromedia.

Ok.
You guys are totally trippin'Apparently no one read the requirements.
Requires: Mac OS X 10.2.6
This thing runs fine on a crappy ass G4 466.
That's pretty amazing.

Just opened the "Using FLash MX" guidebook it reads
System requirements: Mac OS 10.1 or later.

just sold my dual 1.25 because of flash problems.. most of my development lately has been in flashmx and for me (on 10.2 with all of the updates) it ran like horse crap. only had the machine for a week, but if i can't trust my only machine i need to switch back. Back to pc i go (for now), until macromedia wises up and makes a better product for the mac.
shipped out the machine today actually.

it's true that Flash runs better on PC. I've used it on many machines and it is slower on a mac, and has several annoying bugs like keyboard shortcuts for tools working intermittently. etc.. But, it's not that big of a problem for me, I still prefer working on a mac.

I had an older G4 and thought the mac was having problems with vectors (Illustrator and Flash), I had all the selection lags and tool problems mentioned. a few months ago I started using a new IMac and only had problems with the pallets and tool menu.. I averaged; 20 min a day wasted on this problem, just turning my pallets back on and re-clicking the tools. Now I'm back to working on my PC.

Apparently this new Flash MX 2004 doesn't have these problems. Let's hope, or I will be buying a PC soon. It's really frustrating.

well got all updates and patches running, using bbedit for txt's and stuff. got some cool shit up and running with version 5 on OS 9.2.2.check www.lingner.com for instance.
i mean i paid shitloads for an MX update which doesn't work fine at all, and i'm not planning on blowing money out on MX 2004 which might cause the same trouble. hell i even thought about switching to a PC for Flash Jobs the other day, since i got a couple bigger projects up and coming. ftw. oh, and better fotget about calling the macromedia support hotline

runs fine on my pbook with 64 meg video.
mx 2004 is supposed to be mucho better and a cheap upgrade
- chibasan0
agreeth. mx on mac is sluggish, like a wet sponge.
- CyBrainX0
No, I have no problems with MX except for the panels dissappearing everytime I open the program.
You should get everything set up the way you like and go to Window->Panels->Save layout.
- motokiss0
oh great so what should we do just keep mx out of os x or what do u guys recommend
- sauerbraten0
trippin'
mx works fine on my pbook OSX 1ghz 1g ram, albeit not as fast as a PC, but no bugs. illustrator is very sluggish, photoshop is decent. waiting for the adobe updates.

mx works fine - got latest osx upgrades, but haven't had any problems before - running 800mhz single processor (the first light grey G4s)
only trouble has been keyboard shortcuts....
