Eventually everyone will be vegetarian simply because of economics. Does it make sense to clear rainforest for McDonald's cows? Didn't think so, but right now our future is not worth as much as a hamburger. Later on, land will be too valuable to raise cattle, etc. The hormones in meat is terrifying, it's even terrifying in milk! They've attributed the widespread ADD to consumption of milk/meat hormones. Wait until another 20 years passes and what will be linked to hormones and genetically modified foods (cheers to Europe for banning our crap!).
I'll step down now...

I watched a program about these people who lived in northen finland. They were raindeer hearders and because of the landscape they survived pretty much exclusively on raindeer meat. There was one old guy who didnt eat a vegtable until he was fifty. Reindeer meat is supposed to have far greater amounts of vitamins etc. They were healthy.
Ive started drinking soya milk as much as possible. The way they continually artificially inseminate cows to keep them producing milk is sick. oh yea and the hormones and anti-biotics aint too good either. Because cows become sick regularly due to intensive farming practices they just fill the cows up with anti-biotics which we end up eating.
If your going to eat meat - rear your own and slaughter your own.

I have a friend that is a vegetarian, vegan I would say. He also enjoys depriving himself of other things average people do. I guess it is just in his nature.

growing up on a farm, I do have admit I find the whole concept of vegetarianism, just plain strange to me.
to be honest though I find all anti fox hunting , and anti animal testing strange too, but I guess thats the way you were brought up.
Ive been fox hunting, Ive killed animals and eaten them, I go shooting for sport, my cousin lives on insulin, which was tested on animals at some stage or other.
I do know people who have become vegetarians, but mainly because they we fed shit meat as kids, crispy pankakes and the like, which I dont blame them for hating.
I only eat meat when I know where it came from. I by all my meat from markets and ask where it came from, as I do my veg. But I guess you have to be into cooking to get that anal.

I agree in part with Kingkezza about buying meat from someone you know or killing your own animals.
I dont agree with always living your life because thats the way your brought up. Thats a bit ignorant isnt it. Your supposed to grow up a learn for yourself, develop your own understanding of the world.
One irony of the diabetes is that a meat/fat diet can be a factor in causing some types of diabetes in some people. Getting ill from eating animals and then exploiting/torturing them in order to make yourself better.
im not into hunting or exploiting animals for fun. It does come into my definition of a sport. I doubt a butcher gets a thrill every time he kills an animal but some nob on a horse does, mmm

I still eat some meat but I think I will become a vegeterian eventually.
Some of you spoke about the nasty things they give to the cattle but what about the vegetables? Aren't they grown with bad stuff like pesticides an so on? The most important thing that is being forgotten is the quality of the products. It's sad that almost everything we eat nowadays has articial and unhealthy substances.
Well, I guess I'd better start growing some natural and fresh vegetables in the yard.

My own rules dictate that I have to be prepaired to kill whatever it is I'm going to eat.
Also I will not waste... I'll eat the lot.

you can get diabetes from a range of things, drug abuse and drink abuse.
as with most things moderation.
I know loads of vegetarians who eat fish...go figure...
I also know vegetarians who dont like veg, just eat toast and pot noodles.
to be a vegatarian you have to eat a really varies diet to make up the shortfall from meat, lots of nuts and suppliments...
frankly Id rather eat meat its easier
