I dont have empathy for cattle or chickens, I enjoy a good steak, and thought little of the PETA video 'Meet your Meat'. But if being a veg or vegan is for you, then knock yourself out.

why are you trying it? I don;t eat red meat but still partake in a little bit of fish and chicken now and then...my wife has been veggie for 10 years now so it makes life easier...

Ive been veggie for about 8 or so years. Its great of course but make sure you think it out. You cant just drop meat from the diet without compensating. Youll come into contact with a greater variety of foods and have a more varied not restricted diet.

Stop the vegetarians! You're eating the animals' food!
;P

I dont trust vegetarians...
shifty eyes.
meat rules. In a week I have to eat one from the sea,one from the land and one from the air.
It the only life rule I have

I was born a vegetarian (Mom and Pop were 'alternative 60s folk'), but tried just about everything. Didn't like any meat or fish - at all. I'll eat chicken now and then, but nothing else.
Eventually, everyone will be vegetarian :-)

"I dont have empathy for cattle or chickens"
all about a varied diet you know, you're missing out on vital vites and proteins / fats etc if you deny yourself meat. Not saying you have to eat it every day but you have to know what you're doing.
I like meat.

You can't beat meat. Not keen on intensive farming and all the shit we get fed these days but if it's a choice between eating mass produced lil animals and being veggie I'll go for the cute animals every time.

I seriously wont buy chicken from sainsbury / tesco unless its free range - the 'normal' chicken looks like its on steroids or something, all bulbous and full of water, looks unnaturally freakish, kinda chicken silicon breasts or something.

I was also born a vegetarian, never tried meat other than fish fingers and prawns. The smell of beef makes me feel sick, but I do like the smell of bacon.
Other than the fact that I don't like seeing creatures die I think I'll live longer this way.
Cheerio

Namely; steroids, hormones, feces, etc...

I ate vegetarian today. Not because I wanted to, but the other foods at the cafeteria did not appeal to me at all. I was forced to do it, but I'm glad I did it. The falafel was tasty. Maybe I should change my meat-eating ways.

one of the many many reasons why I became vegetarian was because meat is hugely inefficient way of getting food. I remember back during the massive ethiopian famine in the 80's (think live aid) the country was exporting massive amounts of food grains/stuffs. These were used mainly as cattle feed in the west instead of feeding the starving people. They had to sell the produce in order to pay off debts. This made me learn more about global food-systems and since then meat started to appeal to me less and less.
thats aside from the realities of intensive farming, hormones, BSE, mad cow disease or the massive amounts of pesticides cattle ingest etc.
there is nothing natural about the systems that get the nicely sliced and prepared slabs of steak in its shrink wrapped and barcoded pacakge on the supermarket shelf.
