printing an envelope

are there any restrictions that the united states postal service has on what areas of an envelope can be printed?..i havea faded graphic that occupies the bottom inch of the front of an envelope, just wanted to make sure its ok to do...i searched the USPS site and couldnt find anything....

I used to send envolpes to US almost 100% filled with drawings and no one complained, as they arrived the destiny safe and secure, so...

thats what i was thinking kodap....
but this link for the direct mail template says there shouldnt be art/copy below the address...it that set in stone, or what?..anyone else have experience with this...?

My understanding is that the template is the USPS "guideline" for sending mass mailings.
They've got machines configured to automatically process the stuff, and they're trying to get everyone to optimize their own envelopes to fit the format.
If you print below the line, they'll probably still deliver it. But it really depends on how much risk you want to take.
If you're sending out a few letters a week for yourself, it's one thing.
But if it's for a client that's going to be regularly mass mailing to customers or something, you might want to stick to the template.

if you don't follow the guidelines set by the post office you run the risk of delaying delivery of the mail due to it having to be hand sorted or in some cases, increase the postage. it's just something to consider.
