Just bought quark6. Over £1000 for a dtp program that requires activation - the web activation doesn't work!!
Tried the phone support - number unobtainable. Found a customer support number on the web site - and have spent most of my day calling them to get the software activated!!!
Still no luck! Can't bleieve that I have paid all this money and the software is about to turn into a demo version.
Don't have this problem with Adobe /Macromedia et al.
Just needed to get that off my chest!!!!!!!

funny i had the same at work on one of the last machines we've installed..
even better : we called for the activation giving the key number on the packaging and they told us the key was invalid.. :)
nice ..
then the soft wouldn't install and they told us they were waiting for an upgrade for that specific version, and that it should install.
and then.. i told them to fuck off and we took Indesign..thank u Dork express

They are so afraid of getting ripped off that they make their paying customers suffer.
I'm only "having" to use Quark less and less these days.
I think Qurark will be gone in a few years. Serves them right for not upgrading over the years.

I'd have rather gone with In-design but it's a client/printer relationship I'm breaking into so Quark was my only option.
I don't see the logic in making your paying customers suffer at all - and they must have to man the customer support desk more than other software companies.

As you all already know Quark the company, and QuarkXpress the product are crap. They are greedy, and self riotous. The only way to change things is to use InDesign, which I have been pushing in my neck of the woods for sometime now. I was an advocate of InDesign when It first came out and was still employed by the mighty Quark Inc.
It's sad when you work for the company, and use the competitions software whenever possible...

save your time and just [K] the fucking app.
QuarkXpress = wast of time fuckers.

bomy_dick, that was a great story. I use InDesign whenever possible, if I have to do print. Quark is shit.
I recommend getting InDesign and as a second alternative, if you really need Quark, go to Carracho/Kazzaa/Morpheus.
