the architectural firm next door just threw out an old hp designjet 220 printer, should i nick it an take it home. its sitting out back...all alone.

i would guess that they just bought a newer one. it's pretty old - it originally shipped with windows 3.1 drivers. i should probably go ask them.

why not ask them, then you will know for sure and arent luggin around a worthless hunkajunk

i just did...they said it has a messed up "paper sensor." they said its a very cheap fix ($3) but had no luck finding the replacement part. hp doesn't support it anymore. before it broke though it worked perfectly. so now the question is: should i take home a very large, fairly expensive, broken printer and try to fix it?

hell yeah, get with a micro electrician and see if you can fix the sensor

bring it home, see if you can find the part and if not, you could always drop it out a window and film it for some stress relief or something. Breaking things is sometimes very theraputic.

The power supply is probably toasted. I had the same failure.

fix with parts from ebay, sell on ebay.
