ya corin we also have the written word that medium is still out there and im betting after this recent boost in popularity it will be a matter of days until its finally left our society for good

corin.. I'm off to bed, your views are your own but I will say having worked in broadcast in the past and currently it is anything but a way of the past.

yes i know all the old stuff is still around, but i'm not talking about burning film canisters or video casettes, all i'm saying is that a centralised communication medium is not nearly as intersting as a decentralised one, and so i think RGA are doing the right thing. If they can take those talents and bring them into an interactive environment then possibilites are endless. If they stick with motion graphics then they'll just keep making animation for ever.

"all i'm saying is that a centralised communication medium is not nearly as intersting as a decentralised one"
i dare to be sceptical about that statement;
i think i would NOT call the internet (in it's popularity.. say yahoo, ebay, cnn.com etc..) decentralized..
but maybe i misinterpret you now..

valid point. I think on their part it was a good move to expand and enter the interactive design business as well. Keeping Imaginary Forces thriving on the west coast. And from the look of their portfolio they're not doing half bad with interactive.

i'm 90% sure the change has to do with them being owned by interpublic, the big advertising holding company.
interactive is closer to advertising than broadcast is.

Seems like this could be a financial thing. Imaginary Forces isn't really doing all that well right now anyway.... just let a bunch of people go.
My experience is that decisions like that are based more on the bottom line than any creative ambitions.

of course its the bottom line but its still not right
