theres a ps filter that can bring pretty similar results.
sorry i don't remember which one, but it's one of those coming with ps.
i could tell you only the german name of it anyway..

its simply the extrude filter in photoshop.

you'll need a rendering farm to extrude like that.

funny question... I was wondering the same few months ago... I mailed them... here the response:
"She was made by a texture done in Dimension and after apply on the girl image (a lot of work in photoshop after to have the final look). So good luck (it is hard to have a nice result, it depend a lot of your image choice)"

it's just the extrude filter in photoshop with pixels set around 3 or so....i did it and got the exact effect ... just depends on what image you do it on that determines how cool it looks

I would imagine that any 3D program could get that result, if you know your 3D. The lighting on that type is VERY realistic.
