Some people here can be moody from time to time, but I don't believe anyone is here for the sole purpose of being an asshole, so welcome to NT.

It seems that many people find it easier to attack than to simply assist.

Thank you.

When it comes down to it, it all boils to personal preference. There are many factors in choosing the platform of your choice, I suggest taking time and using each platform for real work (ie, not just use it in a store) before you settle on your favorite.
However, while the computers themselves are pretty much equal, it is very clear that Mac users tend to be better people overall. We pollute the air less, we recycle, we are nice to the elderly, we garden and practice yoga, we try to make the world a better place. Windows users tend to be combative, arrogant, drive Hummers and complain about the fuel economy, Republicans, and generally a bunch of jerks. Afterall, Amelia Earhardt, Ghandi, Einstein, John Lennon, Mother Theresa, Muhammad Ali, Jim Henson...they're all mac users.

kpl you bring up some interesting points but i beg to differ on one. everyone knows that einstein used the BeOS.

what a lie, kpl... Everybody knows that Ghandi and John Lennon were open source supporters, they had Linux driven PC's...

I have used macOSx alot at school and on my friends computer. I prefer the look, feel, and quality of mac.
I was really pushing towards a 17 inch imac.
I also thought it would be nice to have both of the operating systems on hand to work with clients and ect.

Get a mac if you want;
To have all your software & hardware start with an "i". and if you want all your flash movies to run at 50% of their original speed, and if you want to buy a piece of hardware that is only supported by one company.
Buy a PC if you want to be laughed at by unemployed designers that had their mom's and dad's buy them a iMac or iCube just because they needed iTunes and iMovie.
Otherwise buy an Amiga because the Video toaster is KEWL!

think inexpensive~

Oh yeh the macs come with a one button mouse!!! Gotta get one of those!
Mac all the way.
and macs save files with no extensions so when you want to share files with your friends you can give them a file that wont open!
MACS RULE! GO APPLE GO!

I find that I'm more productive on a MAC. That said, I'd wait for the G5.

from a technical point of view, get a the fastest mac G5. Its the best hardware around at the moment. You will use that machine for years into the future not worrying any more about any kind of performance.
if you cant afford it, or you would go for a G4 or somenthing, I would suggest to buy a PC, they are cheaper and perform equally, maybe even better...but all G4 and PCs at the moment are just 32bit...
so for an investment in future, go G5.
If you want a Laptop, its a more difficult choice...G4 are great, but quite expensive, you get a G5 for that price, so I would probably buy an Inspiron8500, or something similar.
and about the OS...dont mind, at the moment quite every OS is very satisfying. same for Software Performance, the same on MacOS and Win.
The important thing is performance, buy lots of RAM and fast Processors and a fast Graphiccard with lots of VideoRAM.

c'mon, you know the answer!
maybe better get both...

Im seating everyday at work in front of a mac and a pc.
With time I started to let my poor pc alone, is not fun anymore, for some time I even tried to give it a chance using it to play internet radio and for quickbooks pro, to keep my hours organized.
Today Im using Itunes for the radio streaming, and I keep better track of my working hours using a pen and a piece of paper.I just got tired of my computer crashing all the time, it doesn't matter how many times I listen to it:
"No dude, get 95 is more stable than 3.11 "
"No dude, get NT is more stable than 95 "
"No dude, get 2000 is more stable than NT "
"No dude, get XP is more stable than 2000 "I guess I saw a pattern there, dont get me wrong, I know is just a tool, but I find myself more productive on a mac.
by the way, I still use my pc, or at least , I turn it on everyday. :(
