Pixels into vectors???

Yo, anyone know how turn a pixelated tiff image into a vector image. I need to have all of the individual pixels editable. I have Freehand 10, Illustrator 10 and Streamline 4 but i get horrible resluts from all of them. They won't give me a square pixel. Just a blob. It seems too easy so I must be missing something. I don't wannt to have to do this manually. Any ideas? Thanks.

i suggest blowing it up (not in PS) and then trying to trace it. you might not get perfect squares, but you will get a lot closer...
though honestly, i think that if you play with the trace settings enough, and you blow it up enough, you can probably get some pretty good squares.
then you can shrink as you like.only thing to remember is that if you blow it up, you need it to NOT antialias. this is why you shouldnt do it in PS. illustrator or freehand should be fine. wont add anymore pixel data, only use what is there without resampling. =)
hope this helps.

thanks bio. doesn't seem to want to cooperate that way but i'll keep trying.by the way you can blow it up in PS if you use nearest neighbor when you resample it. then it wont get fuzzy.

Flash trace might work too but beware, all the same colors will merge and it's a CPU killer.

It's called Streamline from Adobe:

you can blow it up (anti-anti-aliased) in ps...
just choose bicubic in the resample image dropdown.

ha, yeah.
tyron beat me to it and how..
nearest neighbour it is!

4cY I think you mean nearest neighbor. Thats how I do it.

flash's auto trace - altho it is a cpu killa is wayy beter than streamline

word. i thought there was something like that, but i wasnt sure about it in PS. ive never used it before.
oh well. cool enough.

This would be tedious with a photo but check it...
Select the colors you want with the magic wand.
Paths -> Make work path -> save path
File -> Export -> Export paths to illustrator.
Open that file in illy, and color it whatever you want.

ahhh Gorbie....if you saw this file.....I think it's going to be easiest to do this manually. It's almost done now. Just have 50 more to go. Thanks for the tips guys.

What kinda graphic is it?
Photo, logo, text?

gorbie...i want each individual pixel a seperate vector image. Not each square but the actual pixel if you zoomed all tyhe way in.

this is the small one. there are like 50 more too.

Hmmm.. That's tough. Good luck.
I like your site. I used to live next a bunch of meth labs.... Smelled like cat piss, and there were weekly raids! Fun stuff.
- Tyrone0
thanks! you lived next to a BUNCH of meth labs? damn. not good to live next to those. they blow up all of the time.

I know.... but it makes the rent soooo cheap!

fuck yeah... thanks Tyrone. I just learned a new photoshop trick.
thanks again.
- Tyrone0
not sure what i did lilbabyleg but you're welcome.
- lilbabyleg0
well, you let me in on the nearest neighbor method of ressing up. Been wanting to do that for a long time...
anyhoo...

glad i could help.
