Defining success-
Why are some people saying "obviously since we're all talking about it the site and part were a success?"
Seems to me more people than not are voicing dislike for the site and their whole overblown effort.
How does that signify success?

plus it seems oddly Christian

nice one lou,
stay focused on what? the fact that you are hating on 2A. I mean, to their clients, it probably is groundbreaking and whizbangy as fuck. to a guy who has his nose buried in flash all day, it surely isnt. Am I getting close?

"That's the problem, it "was" more than that. It was the second coming of Christ as far as they were concerned"
hahaha, so true!!
that hit the nail right on the head!

mg33: To answer your inquiry regarding success - 2advanced.com is a web site for a company offering design services to business. Business is paying 2advanced.com for these services and as far as we can tell are happy with their product. That to me, is successful.
Now if 2advanced.com's purpose was to impress newstoday.com designers, then obviously, they would not be successful.
That concludes my opinion.

My constructive criticism:
1. The new 2advanced.com has some excellent animation, very nice subtle details.
2. I have never really enjoyed the design style used by 2advanced.com and I was hoping for something completely fresh. But, when you think about it, if they changed the look/feel drastically, it'd be like changing their company's image. They've been branded by their web site. So good move here by not changing the style drastically.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give this new site a 7.
Congrats to their design team for coming up with something people care enough about to talk about. :)
Rock on!

angelus35,
well, it seems like someone was saying that because we're banging on about it, thread has 200+ posts in half a day, it's a success.
We don't know who was at the party, who is ready to sign them a check to do a site for them, etc. We don't know what impact the site has had on potential clients because they're obviously not here telling us they were wowed.
Besides, there's nothing to impress with because the site isn't even working properly :D

maybe we should all show it to 'clients'..
i can't imagine that 'clients'
would think of it as cool..fortunatly i have a set of clients who'd laugh their arse off looking at it, and would call it the Disneyfication of webdesign or something; and I'd agree.
- krts0
I'm sorry 4cy but almost all of my clients don't have a clue about what they want or need. It's my job to help them create an image that works for them and make it happen.
All I'm saying is that I'm sure it would impress a lot of clients who don't know what good design is. I guess I'm coming from a different place here.
- mrdobolina0
who is to say what is right or wrong, I know many people (non-designers) that think that site is incredible. Not that I agree, but if people like it, are they wrong?
- angelus350
I suppose that if the site for some reason detoured a potential client then it would in fact be a failure but I personally don't believe that it's going to happen. They needed a fresh look to continue moving foward. They've shown that they are moving forward because they continue to get new contracts. This site is merely the next step for their company. They hype, at least in my opinion is positive for them where it counts. Where it counts are the people that want their services. Not us. People will differ in the opinion that I have, but that's what makes us so unique. None of us are right or wrong. We just have opinions. All 2advanced is trying to do is create a positive opinion for the people that pay them. That's all we all try to do as commercial designers. Thanks for taking the time to read my opinion.

true, krts.
i had clients like that as well.
still have some.but i try to avoid them, as they make me depressed.
don't get me wrong;
it is our task to educate any client on what's good design for them and their visitors/clients, but some are just hopelessly ignorant.

you wanna see tight design, look no further:

But seriously....
White Ski Goggles and black outfits...
i felt like some B movie Nerd Ninjas got lost in a 3D Reel
- mrdobolina0
when it all boils down to it, Im just trying to get paid doing web sites.
Sorry if that offends anyone.
- krts0
I agree completely. You said it dead on. It's our job to educate. I wish I could pick and choose at the moment but whadd ya gonna do?
I just think that some companies looking for a "hip" design would see 2A and cream thinking that was the best way to go. If it works for them great.
I agree though, for my own pleasure I would've like to seen something completely different than what they've done before.
:)
