I've spent a couple hours sometimes writing/editing cover letters. It's tough, you sit there wondering if any sentance is the wrong thing to say.

i usually loook at the cover letter as the first 5 minuites of any good interview i've had. Slightly personable, with a summary of what's to come.

jg: it is an introduction of yourself in a short letter to a potential employer that is sent with your resume. It usually has a quick background and salary info on it.
eno: i agree
anyone got some good examples?

An Example of one I've used in the past.
Use key words, they will be looking for people to weed out so if you throw some stuff they are looking for, then you will make it to the next pile.

Company Name
AddressTo Whom It May Concern:
Use a name if you can, so if you have none, give them a call and find out. Its easy and shows real interest. The attached resume is in response to your listing in the BLANK for a Job Title
