Use key words, they will be looking for people to weed out so if you throw some stuff they are looking for, then you will make it to the next pile.
Human Resources
Company Name
AddressTo Whom It May Concern:
Use a name if you can, so if you have none, give them a call and find out. Its easy and shows real interest. The attached resume is in response to your listing in the BLANK for a Job Title
My experience as a Designer has given me the skills to develop the graphical aspects of a project and the knowledge to configure the code to optimize the desired media. I have been designing for the last X + years using Dreamweaver (hand coding when needed), Photoshop, Flash, FreeHand/Illustrator, Quark Express, HTML/DHTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML, PHP and configuring PERL scripts. I look forward to using my experience to help Company Name work on "Something they said in the ad or something they specialize in."
I look forward to meeting with you to discuss how my experience will best meet your needs. My salary requirements are negotiable, depending on the specific details of the position. Please feel free to contact me at any time and you may view my portfolio at: Http://Portfolio.
Sincerely,
Good Luck
