Looks like a Game Cube.
Would never buy a computer that looked like that. Think about adding CD Burner or DVD. I hate anything but towers with lots of extra room for expanison. Plus it looks like an apple wanna be machine, whatever that means. Never heard of them either.

I've actually heard good things about 'em.
2 people in my office have purchased Shuttle components. They're supposed to be affordable, easy to configure, & solidly-built. There IS that expansion limitation though.
I'd buy one for a second computer... to sit next to my Mac

I got one. Super easy to throw together, I have a burner, an athlon xp 1.8, 512 ram, and a 120 hd in it. total cost was like $750-$800. super fast and doesnt take much space, nice and quiet.
i reccomend it.

they are great and the latest one supports hyperthreaded (800 mhz front side buss) procesors and and will take up to 2 gig ram and will take about any video card. (radeon 9800 pro!) im planning on building one soon.
by the way, i bought a huge tower last box i built planning on adding to it... i havent added a thing. i think it just feels good to know that i could if i wanted.
good luck.

Looks like the Apple Cube.
Not a bad idea, but I you are going to go with something so small, why not get a notebook.

I will do this one day....

"Not a bad idea, but I you are going to go with something so small, why not get a notebook. "
because i want something that i can keep on all day if i want w/out worrying about overheating the mobo.
i saw one of these shuttle barebones boxes at fry's the other day and i'm personally considering getting one (only because i want something that takes up less space and looks halfway descent). i currently own a tower that comes halfway up my leg and just looks bulky...
my only concern is video. am i correct in assuming the video is onboard? if so, what are the specs? run any tests on it?

I just ordered one, it'll be a few days before I get it though
It's got built in Video and Audio ( comparable to aGeforce 2 I read somewhere) but I'm defintely going to put something else in the spare AGP slot. Geforce Fx 5200 128 MB is like 50 pounds ..
Looks nothing like the cube imho..

hahakid, get back with me after you get it and let me know how you like it?

i have the ss51g that supports p4 chips. stuffed it with 1gb of pc 2100 ram, p4 1.6ghz (last summer), 80gb hd, dvd/cd-rw drive, and soon a 3.5" bay 7-n-1 card reader.
i am in between video cards right now, but the onboard 32mb video card is just as good as any other 32 mb agp, had a 32mb radeon. everything else is built on, 1 firewire, 4 usb 2.0 ports, ethernet, all. I'm looking to add an ati all in wonder in it to make it a super entertainment center and still be great for working on.
Why not get a notebook? Well, less heat, still takes up small footprint, and still looks tighter then them huge towers. How many cd drives do you really need?
Plus the price on the one i have dropped from $315 to $220 af fry's i believe. Total spent was about $600. That was last summer, prices on ram dropped and so did the barebone system so its a worthy deal. *****

"Why not get a notebook?"
b-cause i already have one and want a desktop that i can custom build... but smaller than the one i currently have... k?
also, 32mb of video memory isn't enough for me... i need at least, 128mb.
i just need to look into the specs myself...
