i have the ss51g that supports p4 chips. stuffed it with 1gb of pc 2100 ram, p4 1.6ghz (last summer), 80gb hd, dvd/cd-rw drive, and soon a 3.5" bay 7-n-1 card reader.

i am in between video cards right now, but the onboard 32mb video card is just as good as any other 32 mb agp, had a 32mb radeon. everything else is built on, 1 firewire, 4 usb 2.0 ports, ethernet, all. I'm looking to add an ati all in wonder in it to make it a super entertainment center and still be great for working on.

Why not get a notebook? Well, less heat, still takes up small footprint, and still looks tighter then them huge towers. How many cd drives do you really need?

Plus the price on the one i have dropped from $315 to $220 af fry's i believe. Total spent was about $600. That was last summer, prices on ram dropped and so did the barebone system so its a worthy deal. *****
