yeah, actually I'm curious too now after all this arguing. if you buy a font, does that mean you can essentially re-sell it to as many clients as you wish?

fatty: terms depend on the license issued by the distributer, but for the most part your license will allow you unlimited use on your own computer with your own work (ie don't copy it and give it to some one else, you're fine). many font licenses don't let you "include" the font (say, in a PDF file), and unless you know how to remove the bit, most commercial fonts can't be embedded into a web page.
legally, only the actual file is protected. you can draw an exact duplicate of the font if you wanted to, but you drew it. the actual design of a font is not copywritable.

and by not including in a pdf file, i mean that you have to convert the font to outlines(AI) or flatten the file (PS), which you probably do anyway, right? RIGHT? :)

are you simply saving as PDF from within illustrator or photoshop? their PDF files are huge. you're better off printing through distiller.
though in either case i've never known including the fonts to result in a bigger file. quite the opposite usually. plus there's no chance of screw ups at the printer.

You guys are still grinding it out? We get it wena, you and your consorts are better than the rest of us. They got a nice warm spot in designer heaven waiting for you. What i use a font that i didn't pay for, i'm not stealing it. I'm not renaming it 4amvetica, i'm not calling it mine.
In a hundred years one would be lucky if their stoopid typeface is still being used. If someone uses a font i created, better than i can, then more power to them. I wouldn't care if they paid for it or not. It's not about dollars and cents, and i'm sure it's not gonna put me in the poor-house. I'm sorry if type designers feel like they're getting ripped off, it's not my problem. Find a more profitable venture, i don't think any of you got into designing fonts for the money. We're all trying to make it in this business, i'm not gonna stand in the way of someone elses path. Do whatever you have to do to survive and be noticed.
