to be emotionally and intellectually stimulated in the craft of graphic design at such a young age is something to be praised not bashed.
The lad may consider himself a web designer if he likes. For shits sake, he could consider himself an astronaut if he ever made a model rocket.
I think you have a wonderful future ahead of you because you have started off so young and already realized your dreams and aspirations.
Keep designing and breaking the mold when you can. Don't be afraid to be a kid though its makes you what you are.
I think we all value the experiences we had growing up in our adolescent years and those are an influence in our designs today. So don't give up those experiences for anything because I'm sure you'll regret it later.
Best of luck!

i'm torn on the label of 'designer' for someone so young, but it's funny cause i don't have a problem labeling someone an 'artist'.. I think maybe cause the more you learn about design the more you realize how much thinking is involved, the education involved, they time it takes to learn typography, color theory, etc. etc. it's really alot bigger than most non-designer types realize.
anyway, i envy the kids who even have a glimpse of what design is and are freely exploring the territory at such a young age. i do agree that one should not waste too much time in front of a monitor. i'm seriously getting scared, cause i never see kids playing outside and stuff like i did when i was growing up.. some parents have to schedule 'play dates'.. that's insane.
