chose a transition and stay with it till the end.
change the blue-2-black gradient to a green-2-black, the will be mesmerized how much u can "think outside the box"
if a phase comes from the right, EVERY OTHER comes from the right too. dont treat the user like a tennis game fan.
better still, txts ALWAYS comes from the right, unless it's a japanese presentation (that's how we read, huh?)
graphics with transparent background, with matte roughly the same of the bg. noooo white boxes, plz!

Hey Kote, Listen I realize just how shitty powerpoint is.....I should know I've worked at a company where all we do is presentations that combine design and animations(Flash and After Effects) with PowerPoint........Believe me I have been pushing powerpoint to freakin limit everyday for 5 years
So heres your link to my company

Use the drop down menus on the left hand side and checkout the designer section, the abstract section and the animated sections
Cheers

williamb said it best, no, Nairn said it even better. It's your job as a creative professional to oppose that software at any cost. Use Flash instead and if that doesn't work get your resume together.

you cry-babies.
designing for powerpoint is just like designing for any other medium.
• stick with system fonts, like in HTML
• forget about any of the transitions or animated crap, except MAYBE use a sparse sliding effect for refreshing the user's attention.
• if you need a special type effect bring it in as a jpg or gif
• don't whine about having work.
• if you want great motion graphics do an intro in AE.

bingo, nameless!
it's just another medium, and believe me anything that can be used by an end-user without him calling me in the middle of the night (or worse, making me stand up as a just-in-case person) has my respect.
one more time: flash-is-shitty-for-input!
someone earlier said about mixing a flash movie with powerpoint (instead of jpg graphics: scalability, portability, fits better), that's the path we should head to...
