I like times... but not always, if the context is right, like a good restorant or a law firm.... you know serious thing, it can work very well.... but you can'ty use for... I don't know, something related with high technology or any other modern edge stuff.
I think the most important thing in logo design is the 1 color rule, if it doesn't work in black, forgett about it.
and one if important thing, wich someone already said: don't do it in bitmap, has to be in vector.

1. Don't design a logo based upon a current style/trend, it'll be outta date before you can say 'cool'.
2. Turn the computer off. A logo is a collection of marks, a piece paper and a pencil can make more unique looking marks than any computer.
3. Look to the past. Some of the most well known logo's have been around for years...they (the designers) musta been doing something right back then, learn.
4. Keep it simple.

trends... i wonder if that aplyes to the use of helvetica my love neue

The DBI one is in context. I kinda like it, but the swoosh thing is way too lazy a device to use these days.
The Soulstorm one is nice...
Blue man's is ok... looks a little like John Lennon's signature... BUT the drop shadow is evil... The bevel should be enough to lift it.

The london Underground, that logo has more than a century, I belive or at least is close to a century... and is one great logo.

Anyone care to comment on these two?
*Colors are not final, nor do they represent PMS or CMYK original.
*Gradient used works fine in 2 color aswell

Gorbie, I like the typeface you've chosen for Premier. Aesthetically, I like the checkmark better than the hands. Colors aren't bad either.

Never use a font.
Never use any letters.
Never use color, black, or white.
If it looks good, it sucks.

Thanks for the comment Brooke.
It's actually a heavily modified version of this: http://www.emigre.com/dp/getfont…
Dopepope... I'll get to work redesigning it by your guidlines. I always like to try the minimalist approach.

no i don't have any instances of use to show. sorry.

so, is it just me or did UPS get some "inspiration" from sapient?

the new ups logo rocks.

i'd be wary to use a gradient in a logo... but thats just me
of course it is all up to the designer. there are no rules set in stone that we must follow. if that was true, we would all be out of a job as computers would create designs according to that set of rules.
