i have put something dodgy on my new imac with os x and it won't start and i can't get onto the desktop. it gets as far as the mac os x diologue box then stops with the spinning pointer, there should be a progress bar but there isnt could anyone help me or offer any advice. thanks

try booting from your re-install cd

is that just holding down the c key when restarting with the software restore disk in ??

did you backup your stuff? you may have to reinstall...

well i didnt back up but theres nothing that inportant. well i did that and i reinstalled all of os and it still doesnt work should i erase it first the re install ??

I reckon you might have to format and re-install... most of ur tunes are on ur Ipod so thats all good.

right i'm gonna erase and re install, but is there any way i can get my munes from my ipod onto my imac again? any software or anything??

shouldnt I tunes just sync it up? i can lend u all the Cd's again?

Just Format it. That's simple or make 2 partition if you like.

would be easier to just get it off the pod though. and nope itunes would just erase everything from my ipod

Put the cd in and press "C"

oh yeah i did that but then had to reinstall software did that iits still broken. do you no how to start up the mac with all extensions off cos its a dodgy font extension that has caused this?

Actually, i might forgot but try to press 'option' when you restart the computer. If can'y work , don't blame me. Just for OS9
