Anybody implementing Macromedia Firefly ? Or other Flash remoting applications?
- kinetic0
i know this is an old thread..but i searched the archives for firefly cause we're looking at implementing it and i wanted to see other people's reactions/respones to it.
so with that said, is anyone using firefly? if so what do you think of it?
my thing with components like this is they are good for a quick fix, but im a bit sketchy to use them all the time because i dont want to become dependant on using prebuilt shit. i think then, you really dont learn the technology back to front as you would when you do a project from scratch start to finish
anyways, theres my rant.
what do y'all think?

I don't see the harm in it. It's just a library of custom classes.

don't be too hard on yourself..
unless you want to be a hardcore codemonkey, ofcourse.

We used flash remoting all over the place for this site http://www.davemirra.com ... We love it.
Firefly components were purchased by macromedia and they were rebranded as the 'Data Connection Kit' or something.

Thanks... It was a fun project.
Remoting definately kicks as, but it hasn't really cought one as no one seems to be taking the intiative to learn it.
There are alot of good tutorials at macromedia.com in devnet if anyone wants to get started.

yea _noah_ for real...that is a sick site mate. good job
i just hope that they work out the legal issues for amfphp (i think thats what the hold up is anyways)
right now it seems that the remoting focus is on cfmx, so hopefully they will have php remoting soon ;)
