I had a descusion with a friend about advertising, we know sex sells, but does it sell effectivley...i say no cus u loose the focus of the product/service at hand....what do u folks think
- Biofreak0
depends on how well it links with the project...
actually no, scratch that.
yea. it sells. and i'm buyin'.
alright. that came out a bit wrong. hahah.

"depends on how well it links with the project."
so the miller lite catfight made u go buy miller lite or beer...
- abizzyman0
nah... didn't buy the beer -- i know the beer tastes like crap.
.. but the commercial was sure fun to watch.
... so no - sex isn't always effective.
- Mimio0
It's effective. It's the association and sense of idealism that people respond to. Products associate themselves with a lifestyle, or the illusion of a lifestyle.

the sexuality makes you remember their product... which is the point of a commercial, they know that not everyone that sees that commercial will go out and buy a case of miller... but you won't forget their product,
- Biofreak0
i dunno about that.
as longterm beer drinkers, we know that Miller might not taste good to us, so we might not buy it, but ya gotta remember all the highschool kids who are just now discovering beer.
i am pretty sure that they will buy some miller after that commercial.
i know i would have.
just my thoughts.
- abizzyman0
so sex sells if you're marketing to kids?
bio - I'm stunned.
DRINK! (not miller)
- Biofreak0
the younger the better.
i too am stunned. . . on cat tranquilizers.
OKAY!

yes effective ad is to create awareness...but what are u going to remeber the sex in the commerical or the actaul product...in the end u think u remeber so u buy a similaity..competetive product to the original ad...thats imo why sex works but its not effective
- Biofreak0
i dunno. i see what youre sayin azul, but i think that if the sex and the product are made to impact the viewer together, then that image will stick.
the image of the product WITH the sexy images.i guess that would just be the difference between a well amde commercial and a poorly made commercial.
so i think that maybe it works on some levels IF it is done right and maybe it doesnt work so well in other instances.
or something like that.

sex sells everything, even dahl. ;)

good observation... remember when you first tasted beer? it tasted like shit! so at that point your only filter was which beer is cool to drink. for the younguns who are now coming of age my bet is that they will be drinking miller because it represents the good life they want to live!
- Biofreak0
exactly lilbabyleg.
JazX, i would SO buy some if i saw a hot indian chick dancin and rubbin all up against a steamin hot bowl of dahl.
"rubbin on the dahl rubbin no the dahl runnbin on the dahl."
that would be like the theme music for it. sung in a rythmical fashion much like rapping. with some sort of fast and sexy drums giving it a frantic pace as the woman dances faster and faster and ooOOOoo oOOOo OOOO oh shit. i gotta run to the bathroom guys.
vivid imagination has fucked me over once again. heheh.

ok, think about men that work in factories. They be talking about that commercial at work. And then after work they go buy beer. And they work at a factory, so they buy inexpensive beer. There are worse beers than miller. I should know Im from Milwaukee.
- Gorbie0
Nothing better than shot-gunin' 12 packs of the Beast.
- mrdobolina0
hahaha, how much is a 12 pack of the beast in your area, gorbie?
- ********0
sex sells desire for sex and the product is forgotten.....in the end the concept will hold all cards i agree bio
- Gorbie0
They keep the price fairly low. It's gotta compete with gasoline prices, ya know. :)
- mrdobolina0
but if you get 10 high school kids / factory workers talking about the ad, that is great marketing.
- breeding0
theres nothing wrong with beast, i lived on the shit for years... they brew genny in my hometown, now there's a shitty beer.
