MDs are pimp if you dont mind the slow transfer...
They are 1/4 the cost
I wouldnt mind an iPod though..
but if you want to save some money MD will suit you well.

also rumours that there is a new ipod dock in development that will have rca output and will have a stereo recording functionality. just a rumor tho

personally - love my MD (mz-r700), but haven't used it since I bought an Iriver slimX cd/cdr player.
I was thinking about buying a MP3 player at the time, trying to decide between an IPOD and any of the other players. The SlimX looks sexy, reads MP3 cds (as well as WMA's), and is slim enough to be comfortable when carried.
This means
a) I don't have to convert my existing CDs
b) prepping media doesn't need any proprietary software for conversion or transfer and is as quick as my burner can churn out a cd.I know this is "option C" in a "choose from option A or B" question, but this is what works for me. Just in case y're interested, search CNET for reviews...
