You know those music CDs that autoplay with an on screen menu and all that jazz - how do they make those? Macromedia Director?
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks

yes, director, but thats all I know...

is there not a way to do that in flash? i mean can one make an .exe file in flash?

Yes, you can do it in Flash. I've done it a number of times. You just create your menu in Flash and export as a projector file (Mac & PC). Then, use this handy little tutorial to make the autorun file and prepare all files for cross-platform compatability:
http://www.actionscripts.org/tut…
Also, this page might be of interest to you. It teaches you how to modify the projector file:

but that won't autostart on a mac wil it?
I didn't read the tute fully tho sorry!

I believe so. There's a bit on the second page that explains a workaround.

It explains how to create hybrid CDs on each platform that will work on both. I've used the MacImage program they mention for this purpose before, and it seems to have worked fine.

First of all, "tute" is a really bad word.
I wonder what happened to enhanced CDs. You don't seem to see as many as you did a few years ago. There was even a company in NYC that specialized in making them: http://www.nettmedia.com
They're still around but not as active I think.

here is another question, let see how well I can explain it...
once you burn the cd with the enhanced content - is there still a way to access the music on it thru a computer? because i have this enhanced cd and through the computer all i can access is the stuff meant only for the computer.
Media player or winamp etc dont recognize it as an audio cd anymore. But my cd player can access all the songs just fine.
Any idea whats going on?

aahhaaaahh! gotcha! you wanna rip the CD you hijacker!!!
hehehh, no but seriously, I've had exactly the same problem with one of my gf's cd's she wanted copying... I didn't delve to find out at the time but it would be good to know...

hahah. no i dont want to rip the cd. i want to make an enhanced cd of my own but i want it to be able to play the music on the computer as well.
i want the best of both the worlds.

You're right. "Tute" is indeed a terrible word.
I figure that Enhanced CDs were, like everything else, trendy at one time. Much like putting "secret tracks" at the end of records. That, too, doesn't happen much anymore.

hahaha, funny thing is I cringed as I typed it, purely in the name of saved keys... tutorial is such a long word, next I'll be saying 'prolly'!
- autonoma0
In all honesty, I actually typed 'tut' in my original reply and went back and finished the word, so I digress.
