Being Interrupted in mid-pitch

How rude is that? I just spent all afternoon thinking:"I need luck, I need luck, I need luck". As I was thinking about how I am going to manage and make it with barely 50$ to live off on for the next 2 weeks and how shitty my career is, this guy comes to my desk and tells me that they're interested in my pitch for an assignment that I've wanted to do for over 3 years now. I'd have to do it on my own time wich means extra money. Enough to pay off what's left of my student loans and get me out of poverty at last. Plus, they actualy liked the pitch, so it would be something that I LIKE doing for a change. Anyway, there's some complications they'd have to work through so the girl in front of me interrupts and says :"my boyfriend can do it!!! blablabla!!!" and basicaly steals all the guys attention with her sales pitch.
Am I wrong to be pissed at her? Maybe it's just because I already hate that goddamn woman so much? Anyway, if it weren't for office politics I'd have had my cake... Boo-hoo *sob* *sob*

What a biatch. That would really piss me off.
- ctrlRmB0
I can feel for you dude... But stand up and take the project back. Don't be angry at her... It's got nothing to do with her at this point... You've been wanting that project... fucking take it.
- monokrom0
What are the complications that came up?
If they loved your pitch so much, then how did that chick steal the work away from you so easily with the "my bf can do it" crap?
Like the previous poster said - take the job back. Figure out the problem and solve it.
Good luck.

It's a bureaucratic thing.
As for her, I am very shy and a crap salesman. It would've pissed me off less if she sent a discreet email to the guy or at least did it behind my back... I'm gonna do my best to take it back. It is very interesting and I think I'll get along better creatively.

only the strong survive son. being a graphic designer means you gotta be a salesman too - like it or not - your job involves convincing people that your design is good...
get some nuts and then figure out how to pitch better. that girl out did you this time, it ain't her bad, she recognized how weak you were... but you can still take it back. if you don't figure it out you might be in the wrong bidness.

yeah, man I also feel for you, been in the similar situation loads of times... as i am right NoW: rent and bills to pay, taxes and university f*cking Loan. I need a computer and a bike... I only have 40€/$ on my bank account. hopefully will be rescued by a project I'm doing.
*sigh*
I can't complain anymore.
Ces't la Vie...

Fine, I'm going after all her clients and see how she likes it.

Improvise, Confront, and Take Back.... Pull the Balls out and go for it.

Just go for it Redmond. Me too Im a very shy person, But I learned pretty quick that you can't survive and succeed by being nice and quiet all the time.
Shit, I cant beleive talents like yourself and kodap are stuggling to make a living. Goodluck. To both of you.

punch her in the face and steal her jacket.

I am possibly the worst self promoting person I can think of, but at the same time I dont like getting walked all over, all you need to ask yourself is " am I happy being walked on by people?"... my guess is that no you're not, so get out there and tell them you're the one that can do them a job that they wont think theyb need to have redone in a few months time, you WILL GIVE THEM WHAT THEY NEED!!
YEEEHAAHH!!
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
and I want to know that you nailed it and celebrated with some fine food and cocktails!Show me tha money!!
- lilbabyleg0
"Fine, I'm going after all her clients and see how she likes it."
that's the attitude you need (unfortunately). take some shit from her. take some shit from everybody. you have to sell yourself quit being a weinerhead victim and start grabbing shit.
- nNine0
Go get it back. Don't let that bitch get away with it. It's yours!
- lilbabyleg0
yeah but don't play yourself out by trying too hard. then you'll look like even more of a weinerhead victim.
- Redmond0
Thanks for all the support :] I'll talk to the guy again monday and simply ask if I could use my vacation time to do it.
- unknown0
man I would have dissed her ass, you know my style, especially when she started with my boyfriend shit.
got get em tiger and get your project back and while you're at it you really should get her and her boyfriend's projects too
- Redmond0
Maybe I'm old fashioned, but when I am shopping, on the rare occasions that another salesman/woman interupts the current one wich is busy showing me around, I usualy ignore him or her. I just thought it was bad etiquette.
- monokrom0
Redmond you're right, it is poor etiquette. You have my sympathy for being saddled with an ill-mannered boss.
Chin up.
- lilbabyleg0
I wouldn't say etiquette, it's more about respect ... she just didn't respect you enough to stay out of the deal. by definition you must appear to be vulnerable to her or that she felt you weren't an asset to her - she obviously doesn't think enough of you to keep you on her side so she went ahead and violated you.
be subtle and subversive, but topple her none the less... some way some how, but don't waste too much energy on it. You don't want to play yourself out like a sucka.
- scarabin0
agreed.
don't get bested by a friggin' girl and her "my boyfriend" talk
topple that bitch yo
