Hey, anyone with the new ipods, I have a few questions for ya. I need to know if you can easily transfer files from a pc to a mac and mac to a pc. Basically I need to use it as an external hard drive as well as an mp3 player. My school has pcs with firewire that I can plug into and obviously my pbook has one too, so is it a hassle, or simple?

when i plugged in mine for the 1st time is asked me to format it for my os, which is pc, so i dont think its possible

It has nothing to do with the model
it's a Mac formatted harddrive - so you would need to have Mac-volume reading software installed on the PC to read any form of Mac formatted disk.
Macs just have had PC formatted reading software for a long time - so we take it for granted
You would need a PC formatted iPod to go between easily - but then it'd be useless to you for music since you couldnt use iTunes with it, I don't think.

i dont like the button placement on the new ones... I have a 10 gig and I wish it was smaller but I love it.

there is also mac-reading software for the pc - macopener is one and is excellent - i think that will allow you to use the mac formatted on the pc's.
on the other hand if you have a pc formatted version, then there are plenty of programs[not itunes] that you can use - ephod is fast, much much faster than mmjb

yes ephpod is great, but itunes is due for pc in june... :)

EphPod is sweet, altough I can't wait until iTunes comes out for the PC.

im sorry but iTunes sux!
Now if they had a way to add cover art and some other features I would use it more.
So my G4 sits stale, while Ephpod and my dual p4 2ghz rocks the casba
