It has nothing to do with the model
it's a Mac formatted harddrive - so you would need to have Mac-volume reading software installed on the PC to read any form of Mac formatted disk.
Macs just have had PC formatted reading software for a long time - so we take it for granted
You would need a PC formatted iPod to go between easily - but then it'd be useless to you for music since you couldnt use iTunes with it, I don't think.
