Yes. I am.
Everyone has been there from time to time. Your eyes falling out of your head and the hours start to melt together. You can't tell Monday from Tuesday from Wednesday, etc.
What do you do to break the cycle.
I would say vacation but I have too many damn projects going on at once to escape for longer than 2 or 3 days.
Trying to find a solution before "approaching" becomes "experiencing."
thanks,

Your health (mental and physical) is more important than anything. Do the right thing.

I've had serious burnouts twice in my career - the first time I just took the friday and monday off and pissed off the the south coast of france for some surfing...the second time I was ordered home by the CD after he caught me staring blankly at my screen for 3 hours hardly moving, and told to come back when I was ok (but not to take the piss)
so that was ok really.....everyone deals with it in different ways - but I would suggest getting away for a bit

youd be surprised what a difference a nice 3 day weekend can do for you. add oen more day for flying back home and you got yourself a pretty good vacation.
youre in the US... so fly out to california for a weekend.. or mexico.. vegas... there are plenty of places to go for really cheap to take your mind off work.
wheni need to get away and relax i take a drive up to santa barbara which is about 4 hours north of LA on the coast. very beautiful if you havent been there. i do the bed and breakfast thing... and some spa time.
have you ever gotten a facial or gone to a day spa? if you havent try it. its a good thing to do to relax and spoil yourself for a day. and trust me you wont be the only guy there.
something liek that can really ease up things and get you back in the *mood* for work and design

ok, just looking out for you.

going to a local spa and checking yourself in for a day or two isnt as expencive as you think. its just about as expensive as flying out for a weekend or 4 days somewhere out of your state. i bet you can find one enough of a drive out of the city that you'll feel liek your ein a different place.
theres one in so cal that feels like a different country or planet when you go there.
good solution if you truely cant get away from work for long.

thanks all.
i guess there is always a way to push some of the many projects off your plate to escape for a while.
I have some really good opportunities at work and I guess I am just afraid that not seizing the moment (working shitloads of hours / taking on shitloads of projects) will be looked on as not taking advantage of the opp. Or I could miss that open window.
Of course, I could be wrong.
I just put on Sinatra's greatest hits. For some reason, this helps right about now. Funny.

shellie is right man - hit a spa - have someone papmer you - an hour long aromatherapy massage is the bomb

thx shell.
I would have never thought to go to a day spa. my "manly" mindset and all. :-)
but now that you mention it, that would be nice to get a massage and what not.
might give me some clarity on the situation.

Do anything outside. I just got back from running around in the grass, wet from the sprinklers, with my puppy. We got all dirty & muddy. It was the best.

get a dog. it will get you out of the house 2wice a day for walks, sounds mad but it worked for me, escape from the monitor and you HAVE to do it every day.
Im up at 5am every morning going for walks with the mutt with my camera. an hour of quility time to myself. and i used to be a fall out of be 10 mins before work person.

got to agree with some points made here. a massage does wonders for your stress levels and so does getting outside. sit and stare, ride a bike, whatever...stay away from the computer for a little while. you'll feel better for it. shit, i need to take some of my own advice!

brooke,
you make it sound so kid like. reminds me of when we used to run through the sprinklers in the front yard on a summer's day.
ahhh. the good old days.
when I move into my new townhome next week, the first thing I am doing is running through the front yard with the sprinklers. My neighbors might think it's crazy but what the hell.
You are all invited.

i have the same releif as sexypixel, that damn mutt nudges my mouse hand everytime i need a break and wont stop!
Another thing i like to do is spend a few hours every couple weeks and check out design books at barns and noble. seeing all the real good print work inspires me.

if i had the money, i would fly to Fiji and sit on a beach doing absolutely nothing.
isn't that the place where once a year the water glows due to the shrimp in the water? Or was that some place else?

that happens in alot of places, especially south east asia, you probably saw it in the movie The Beach.
