Friends of NT...
Friday May 16 2003 I awoke to hear my G4 making this horrible "click_click" sound, photoshop files still open from hours of work the night before, I could see them and they looked great...harddrive still going"click click" . Thinking "something is really fuked up here..." I try to click on the PSDs and the screen freezes...try to reboot...the ol "?" mark folder comes up...OMG! "click_click" ...after 4 hours of fiddling I give in and Im just sure my harddrive is dead!! My new site that I just finished 3 weeks ago is lost, 2 current freelance projects..LOST...I was planning on backing my shit up when I woke up that day..."click_click" . Its now Saturday, my G4 has new a HD...no design files (making em now), 3 hours of reinstalling software and Im still in shock...so my message to all of you is BACK YOUR SHIT UP! you never know when your baby is gonna die. Ive been using computers for years and never had it happen before, but it has now..again I say "BACK YOUR SHIT UP!"
So if anyone knows of a cheap data recovery place thats good please let me know...still in shock Five73

was the hard drive going...but I thought the loud sound was the fan or something...it didnt click until that mourning...but that "g4 click" thread sounds like what I had but I had no chance to back shit up...but maybe I will try the slave mode thing and see if that works

to a disc doctorthere are hard drives that are
recovered after being underwater, on fire, riddled with bullets, etc...so - don't lose hope.

theres some good data recovery software on Download.com
Same think happened me last week with a virus, bought some software and got all my stuff back. Even if you reformate your hd you can still get your files back, but the more fuckt your drive is the more $'s you'll have to pay the esxperts, but it sounds like all your work is thers, just need another puter to hook the old drive up to etc

heres the deal...
the arm on the harddrive is powered by a little motor...that happens to be shot. The only way it can be fixed now is have the HD sent off to a some data rescue techs...who will then remove the data platter and somehow get the crap off of there...Im afraid its gonna cost at least 500$...so again all I can say is back your stuff up...sucks when everything is gone

well...I guess the main reason I shared this with everyone was to others avoid the shit Im going through now...super case of data loss shock...so if you value your work back it up thats all...

Im gonna send the old HD off in style...but befor I do that Im gonna do so old bonic man stuff and try to get him rebuilt...theres some good stuff trapped on his little data disk...*dataloss shock almost gone*
