it blew! cool effects (as expected), no plot, horrible acting, and possible the worst art direction out.... what was up with that Zion-brittany spears video- rave scene? anybody else find it a bit cheasy.... and what about the fact that all of zion looked like a dirty cave, except the central-control room, which looked like something out of a Kubrik film!!! or how about the fact the the most pivetal part of the whole movie, the "luke, i am your father scene" was brushed over in about 2 minutes to make room for more, played out, keanu karate scenes????
LONG LIVE THE X-MEN BABY!!!!!!!

Bad. Very bad. About as coherent as Episode 1. Much gratuitous lameness. Computer effects: B-

I loved it. Got stoned and enjoyed all of it, except for the VERY obvious CG - and the serious over attempt to squeeze as much drama out of the opening scene as possible. I was giggling my ass off at how over dramatic it was.
And finally, the flying thing is really silly in both movies. Teleportation or something would be more fun.

I haven't read all the responses.. but here's my take:
I don't know why people are critisizing the storyline. I like the way it's developing. It seems coherent so far, although we don't know all the details yet. I think it's an awesome concept.
what I didn't like:
(stop reading if you haven't seen it yet..)1. The scene with everyone dancing in Zion was pointless (although I like the music). I have nothing against gratiuitous sex, but they could have spent the time on something that made sense.
2. I have never seen a 3d models (of people) worked into a live action movie where it really worked. They just look plastic. The scene with the many Smiths was a good idea, and the fight choreography was cool, but at certain points it started to look like a cartoon. It's really obvious when it's a model. It doesn't look right at normal speed. It looks worse in slow motion. There were several of those scenes in there....

hmmm.... saw it friday night and while some of it was cool i.e. the ducatti on the freeway, i thought the fight scenes were too long and a bit boring.. the philosophy of the movie is cool. oh shit,
i sound like a nerd..

The score was probably the worst I can remember - While in the first Matrix the upbeat thrashy music worked really really well in this one the music was PATHETIC! I'd like to see someone argue otherwise!
The plot was poor and badly constructed.
As an action film that people might enjoy in the same way as watching a film like the fast and the furious it was good - but in terms of being a sequel to one of the most amazing films out - it could have been A LOT better!
I think that the third film could save the series and make reloaded worth watching but overall it was badly constructed, with an appalling music score.
Not that I felt let down or anything.
:D
piece.

"The Matrix" - I seem to remember watching a really similar dr. who on TV when I was a kid. About people trapped in a fantasy world, enslaved by machines. It was even called "the matrix".
I bought the game yesterday for PS2. Suprisingly for a movie license, it's really very good.

the people have spoken. Although, I really really liked it. I feel like if i watched the first and the second movie for the first time, one after the other, I'd probably like the first one better.

The art direction has always been a bit nerdy... those long leather jackets are awful...

I saw it yesterday and I thought it was actually pretty amazing. I don't really know why many people dislike it (even with their reasons) because it wasn't as bad as some said it was. I'm not sure whether or not I like Reloaded more than the first ; they would most likely be a tie or the 1st one is better. A lot of the previous Matrix viewers loved the movie mostly for its action, and although the movie wasn't balanced throughout it did have many action scenes as well as emotional/other. I liked the scenes with Neo and Trinity. Last thing. Although the clothing gets in the way sometimes, I think they are all pretty spiffy :)

i hated the stupid long rave/porno scenes. i started wondering if i was watching the matrix still. other then that i liked it, but not as good as the first one. need to watch it again

Sorry I forgot to mention some things. The philosophy was cool and I thought it was a lot more important and meaningful than the action (which was cool too). And the score wasn't as good as the first movie but it wasn't horrible. It went along pretty well. The scene with Neo and Trinity having sex was a little too long but it wasn't bad and the music was good too.

i dug it. ditto on the long porno rave scene, but it didnt bother me really. even kinda dug the music. it kinda gave zion a vibe instead of being a boring city with flat people.
rates 4.5 out of 5 tender juicy babies.

Take away the kick ass effects and ambitious fight/action scenes
and you have nothing.
There is no spoon.
But there sure were some hefty speeches.
- unformatted0
the morpheus speech bothered me a little bit too. i thought he was mel gibson from braveheart for a second
- o0o0
yeah that speech was a bit off. But I don't see why ppl are unhappy witht he storyline... it's awesome... that's the best part. Maybe not the execution, but the basic concept is really interesting.
The fact that the oracle is another program. That sets me off on all kinds of tangents. What a trippy form of consciousness .. moving around the matrix.. no real physical existence.. just a concept. consciousness within consciousness.
The part with the architect was a little difficult to follow, but I believe I got the jist of it, it added complexity to the plot, the interdependancy, fate, free will, the "unquantifiable" aspect of human nature, etc etc.
