I think it's art. but someone tell the danes to stop puree-ing the goldfish.

Wow, somebody stealing Damien Hirst's thunder with this type of art.
- lind0
Or the Chapman Brother's

It's a interesting idea, but you didn't need the electricity on to see what people would do.
It's more than a little disturbing.Maybe someone should send one to Mr. Bush?

Re: is it art?
what is?

the goldfish blending piece in a danish museum.
- lifeinsodium0
"Two goldfish died after two visitors pressed the button. "
oh dear.
- Gorbie0
"It was a protest against what is going on in the world, against this cynicism, this brutality that impregnates the world in which we live."
dude.... if you don't want the world pregnant with hate, then quit fucking it with death!
pretentious fuck.
- Bio0
it is art.
the guy is a jackass, but it is still art.
it is cruel, but talk about giving insight into someone's psyche.not sure about the electricity thing though. i think the viewer is responsible for his actions. so if someone kills the fish... then it is their fault. not the artists.
but again i say , the guy is a dick.

It's the art of shock.
There are limitless ways in which to "protest against what is going on in the world, against this cynicism, this brutality that impregnates the world in which we live" however putting a goldfish in a blender doesn't really answer that.
Now everyone's talking about the goldfish and real reason for the piece is lost in the debate.

true Blue...
He should have put his hand in the blender instead. :)
- Bio0
would been better to put a kitten or puppy in there and cut the electricity off. just to see who would push the button.
then those people shoud be locked up and beaten.
- o0o0
yes, it's art. Interesting concept. It's like that famous psychology test: http://www.new-life.net/milgram.… except it's not an authority thing.. just to see how f'd up people are.
At least there were only two casualties, if it hadn't been in public there prob would have been more...
I'm curious to know what ISN'T art. I mean, is there really ANYTHING that has NO artistic value? I'll start a thread...
- Nirvous0
Oh come on. It was a goldfish. An insignificant fish bred solely for auqariums.
- Bio0
so it has no soul then?
feels no pain?not that i really believe in that whole "soul" thing anyway. but still.
- o0o0
yeah, you know those kids that torture insects and other small (or not so small) creatures?? Those are the scary kids...
even scarier adults...
- Nirvous0
Let me play devil's advocate for a sec.
Should we drive slower to save the bugs, or live in filth to save the roaches? The goldfish has no soul, no. As a social experiment I think that the blender was brilliant.
- lifeinsodium0
then my question would be do you step on bugs on purpose?
- mbr0
Now it starts to get heated...
No soul? No feelings? Are you so sure? Maybe you don't care, and that's your prerogative, but it's open for debate.
Anyone remember a few years ago when some 'artist' was solidifying some animal, then slicing it into sections for display? Kinda of like what they did in that movie Cube (with JLo), but before the movie.
Same controversy, same 'artistic logic'. Nothing new, really, except that the shock value equates to instant publicity. That I despise.

word, mbr.
- Nirvous0
I think the shock value was the hook and the question of pushing the button or not was the personal question that each person asked themselves.
Would I push the button, not likely but it's not a jailable offense. imo.
Some religions, Hindu in particular, would be highly offended by this "art" but to each his own. Different strokes / different folks as the song goes.
