1. Supply/Demand
(supply) If they have the money to spend they will pay you good money .
(demand) If you have skills beyond the average person you should get paid more then the average person.
2. Reward / Sucker
(reward) The whole idea of having a job is getting rewarded for your work. Working overtime and getting heavy work loads with the same pay each week would make me wonder about the reward.
(sucker) A guy told me a long time ago you need to be your own agent and don't let people play you like a sucka! This assumed 45 hour work week should not have been assumed, you should of had somthing in writing.
I have had experience with this type of work, and trust me if it's two weeks and your already talking like this you will crack sooner or later. You may think 75,000 a year or more is great pay but when your putting in 55-60 hour weeks it's more like 45,000 a year.

i think the situation is different though...i like the work, and it is the best work i have had to date...these people aren't, in my opinion, screwing me...they are cool guys working their asses off too, close to the same hours as me...
i know i deserve more, but it is a question of whether or not they know i deserve it...i am gonna wait and see, and hopefully they will notice...

Keep working until you find another job, that's all.

My first job was 21k in canadian dollars with no paid overtime, I worked about 70 hours a week. It was insane. But I got my experience. :/
What I hate most about overtime is that it's usualy picky clients or bosses being prissy about details and changing their minds 5 to 6 times.

Look man, your not hurting your chances by saying something at all. It all depends on how you put it. It should be a symbiotic relationship. You benefit; they benefit. If they are such a great company then they surely can see your viewpoint and if you are doing solid work for them, then they should pay up for it. Speak up or be spoken for. That's my motto.

as a junior designer here i worked up to 100 hours a week. of course, i also got around $7K in bonuses that year (all were unexpected). now 5 years later, i'm the senior art director making three times what i started at. the work can pay off if you think the effort is worth it.

bluejam said it all really... I say suck it up and put the hours in to produce the highest quality work you possibly can in the time available, whatever that may be. I've heard other threads here about 'am I working too hard' blah blah blah and I'm always amazed that the vast majority work so little. An under 60 hour week is a quiet week for me. If this is the business you want to be in because of your love of creativity and design, then you will NOT be sitting counting hours and even dreaming of "overtime payments". Good luck.
