Hi. I'm working on an article on Web site piracy, with particular relation to Flash, but also general design. Have you been ripped off? Has someone stolen your work and taken credit? Have you seen major rips online? Do you know how to protect your work in such circumstances? If "yes" and you'd like to provide some input to my article, please email me at . that thing about the thermasilk campaign?...
where i proposed a whole dragon and fire and maiden idea, and it was shot down by the client as being 'off target'....
only to see it as a fully produced commecial a year or so later?...
and not get any credit for it?yeah...
that was a rip allright..

still can't believe that happened..
bitch of it is, it's totally unprovable as a rip..
i worked on the pitch with the rest of the agency for 2 weeks..
but as a lowly designer, i didn't get to go to the meeting..
the art-director a good friend of mine really liked the dragon and maiden concept, and took it along ...
when they came back they reported a total success..but that my idea fell on deaf ears..
they thought it was cute, but 'off target'...
well...
aparrently not alllll deaf ears..
some one at that meeting was listening verrrrry carefully...anyhow, long before i ever saw the commercial, i left that agency to work here at MONTAGE-DMC...
when i saw it, i called the old art director and asked what he thought of it..
he was pretty shocked too...but no record of those concepts exist anymore...
at some point they must've been cleaned up and tossed, as a 'almost but not quite..might as well get rid of it..'...sad but true..
watch out for those suits in meetings..
don't wanna sound paranoid..but you'd be surprised how often stuff like that happens
