I was checking the Sony job requirement (link of which posted on PBS http://www.resmatic.net/spe/deta…) and it says CMS experience mandatory.
What exactly do they mean by that? What kind of experience a web designer would have with CMS?
I've designed interface for CMS -- presented it to the programmer as a static website -- that's about it.

they probably mean experience in developing content management systems using a web programming language like PHP or ASP

The link I posted is broken -- it's this one: http://www.resmatic.net/spe/deta…
It seems they're not looking for any type of scripting skills, except HTML. I was thinking maybe CMS experience for them would be just plugging in information in a form and hitting the submit button or something--like data entry.

i hear other people on NT applying as we speak..

cms experience in that respect would probably apply to anyone who has maintained and customised a weblog on their own server.. its not rocket science.. its just editing html and dealing with some funny looking custom tags. when I say dealing with I mean copying and pasting them . .. if you want to apply for this job and feel confident about the cms part, I recommend you try your hand at something like http://noahgrey.com/greysoft/ :)

Thnx oculasm. Not applying for the Sony job, but it's good to know what skills a major employer is looking for.

content management is more than software or code, folks...it is a business and industry concept. it is a specific way of handling data and communication between machine and user...
it shares methodology with information architecture and database design...it is how you interact with users and data, how users interact with data and how the two define your overall concept and business....
cms is far more than a blog or line of php.
:)
it is a practice in data management and content delivery.

If they talk to you about Microsoft CMS 2001 run away from it. Working with it for almost 2 years now and I can say that it limits your skills a lot... But sp is right. CMS is more than a blog. It is a great concept when well donne.
