i'm just happy that i bought my 10 gig from best buy instead of apple... it was an open box item, it blitzed within the 2 weeks, i returned it for a new model (for free) and tacked on the $30/3 year replacement warranty. If a new one comes out within the next 2.5 years now i can just smack it on the counter and grab a new one:-)

quik i feel for you, though am sure if you write the head office a letter they'll come to reason. Just make sure you aren't pushing to get a 'new' ipod, just a replacement of the one you bought OR your money back.
as it may seem your just some punk out to get the new model.
someting similar happened to be way back- intelligent and to the point letters really do help.

good idea quamb, I meant to call the store today to see if I could get a refund, but it got too late and I was busy (writing the document for the project that I owe you a t-shirt from incedently)
I will call tomorrow.. failing that.. I might resort to a letter.

sorry for that crap, unhelpful remark. I would aim it at somebody in customer services. There is normally a manager to oversee stuff like this. Almost a pr person for the consumer.
I would also mention certain 'watchdog' companies in the letter, but in a nice way of coarse. You have rights.

I agree...apple are tossers...
I have gone through 3 power cables for my powerbook 'coz of the stupid 2 part design...the cable cracks in exactly the same place and at GBP90 a throw...
not good....time to go pc me thinks....

stuff happens.
my dual g4/450 case was broken when it arrived and they "dont warantee the case itself" so i was stuck with it.. everyone's gotta draw lines somewhere or people will be swapping up all their old crap 2 days before the warantees end.

It is ashamed that you now hate Apple. It is even more ashamed that you admt it. Apple isn't the best in the world, but it could be worse.

Did you have a full warranty with your IPOD? Does it stipulate in that warranty that you would receive the latest version of hardware as a replacement if something went wrong?
Imagine if their policy was to replace all old versions with new versions... people would go around purposely making their hardware not work every time new hardware came out.
