if you guys are interested in getting ipods, i [read: my macwarehouse guy] can probably get you at least $15 off list, plus no taxes.
ask for dave rosario at macwarehouse - 800-622-6222 ext. 61720.
tell him ryan sent you.

could someone tell me how the remote works? in that photo that xrusos just posted it looks like it would be pretty damn close to the actual ipod itself. not really a remote? thanks.
also, does anyone know when they'll have actual photos of the new ipods up?
- xrusos0
the remote is like 3 feet away (wired). the earbuds attach to the remote and add some more distance. it's great for putting the ipod in your coat, and the remote on your sleeve (did that for skiing) - or having the ipod in your pocket and the remote clipped on the outside of your pocket (for easy switching of songs). pretty functional. but i don't use the remote all the time.

sod the i pod. the new green itunes logo clashes with the limewire icon on my dock!

Just read that the buttons are illuminated... that sounds awesome. I have the first version iPod. I might have to drop-kick mine and get a new one on my CompUsa warranty plan...
The best feature though: PLAYLISTS ON THE GO!!!!!
- xrusos0
not to mention its usb 2 compatability...

but yeah, i'm upgrading from my 10gb for sure.

and now, here's where I get somewhat pissed because all the new functionality of the new ipods are possible with the old ipods. ie, does the new ipods have more buttons? no.
I want solitare, dammit. the notes reader means I won't need a pda.
- STB0
REMEMBER: USB 2.0 only for the PC version and not ready until June...
- STB0
The new iPods have the same buttons as the old ones, just in a different place and illuminated. All the functionality is in the software update... which is free :)
- kpl0
nada. the hardware changes aren't in, of course, but only aac support and a rejiggered interface are in the firmware update.
I got 1.3 on my ipod. no solitare, no notes reader. can't change star rating on a song.
- STB0
What!?!?!?! That's fucking retarded! Tell me you can at least make a playlist on the go! Please tell me you can or I will be severely pissed off.
- kpl0
no on-the-go playlists.
- STB0
fuckin shit ass bitch!!! i'll have to punt my iPod and get a new one from CompUSA.
- JohnR0
Need a 5 GB. NEED!!!!! (screaming)
Oh, out of stock. Just my luck.

cant believe theyre still using that musicmatch peace of shit for the pc version. Can you use your own mp3 riper and just drag and drop directly to the ipod?
clueless!
- kpl0
iTunes for windows is coming out later this year, according to Fortune.

Can live audio (from a mic) be recorded on an iPod? Maybe with additional hardware?
- ********0
fuck all that. mp3's baby. think about it. 99 cents a song? that means an average length album will be $15 with no packaging included and you won't be able to burn and share it. they'll be juicing us for even more cash than before?!?
long live piracy. these rock stars don't need my cash. they can play some live venues and earn it.
- sexypixel0
surely they'll reduce the price for albums, but ya, i dont want to pay for and album with no cover, no artwork nothing to actually hold.
would be a good idea if they let you buy the mp3's the day of release then sent the cd out after. Instant access to your music without the trip to the record storethat
