Tibook 3rd party RAM warning
We have discovered that our 3 fried Titaniums all had one thing in common: they all used 3rd party "stacked RAM chip modules". These RAM chips overheat and cause serious damage to your Titanium G4 motherboard. If you have non-apple certified RAM installed, my only advice is take those suckers out and replace them. ( http://www.ramjet.com/pbg4.asp )I cannot state how crappy it is sending your machine in for repair 3 times in a month, plus the warranty does not cover non-apple related damage.
One very last Ti-Book note, I promise:
5 pieces of valuable advice on how to keep your Ti-Book shiny and new
1: Get the 3 year AppleCare service - because you KNOW your machine will break down in 1.5 yrs, so it WILL need servicing. Also this means it will be more valuable when you decide to sell it.
2: On your first day with your new machine, buy something to protect the screen, like this: http://www.acmemade.com/powerboo…
or this: http://www.jrhillandcompany.com/…
You may think, "ya, I'll do that some other day", but NO, get it as soon as you can. If not, your screen will be scratched after two days.. That means you will get less for it when you sell. A priceless investment.
3: When keeping your ti-book in a bag, DON'T have it facing hinge-down. That puts pressure on the hinges, and they will eventually snap.
4: Don't use non-certified RAM. There are heat issues with cheap RAM, and it will fry your motherboard, which is highly inconvenient, and not covered under warranty.
5: Make yourself a desktop that has your name and address written on it, even better label the machine itself. Should some foolish law-abiding soul turn in your lost machine, they know where to send it.

And about life battery? In my 15" is about 3h 1/2 max (working hard with intese CPU usage). But never seen that 5h promise from apple.

i have the 17 and i'm a bit disappointed with battery life. 3.5 hours is attainable if i don't use the optical drive. but the added resolution and screen size alone is worth the product to me.

i wish they'd make a powerbook G4 in the same material as the iBook. Like Radiosilent, I thought the new metal looked and felt cheesy.
