why do people think that it's ok to insult the US? Has it become ok? I am not an American but do agree with their actions as do the majority of the world but for some reason people think that it is ok to insult the US. It doesn't sit well with me to insult a country of people. No matter who they are. I think it is wrong.

I heard a knock knock joke the other day that went
knock knock
who's there?
the french
the french who?
who the fuck cares about the french.I didn't care for the tasteless joke and think most of you wouldn't but if it was reversed and about the US most of you would have a laugh. I think people for the most part are jealous of Americans. I admit that I am to some degree but love my country too. I just think people need to get by their male egos and come to truth with themselves.

I'm not sure why you would consider this a "male" ego problem. To answer the original question of why the criticism, I think the criticism is of our government's behavior, not the people who live here.
Anyone or anything deserves criticism for unconscionable behavior. I love the US too, but that doesn't mean anything when we insult any county that flagrantly disavows international law and the UN and NATO — and then do the same thing ourselves.
I find it harder to understand the anti-French sentiment in this country.

the anti-french sentiment, as I understand it, is more a reaction of the french's attitude toward american culture than specifically the French opposition to the war. there's been plenty about French cultural purity movement which comes off as elitist and snobbish.

Why is it ok to insult at all? Well it's not morally ok, but does anyone care? No.

I only bash and insult (yes I do) USA's government, not people. I love many things coming from there, from music to movies to some of my fav artists like Jackson Pollock or writers like HP Lovecraft. I insult Bush and co and I think IT'S NOT WRONG, they deserve it. Well, they deserve a lot of things more, but I don't want to be called a terrorist so I won't mention them here :p Most of the World agrees with their actions? Like on the whole war on oil thing? Get out to the streets and you'll see actually the opposite. Please don't say nonsense, most of the world is against this bloody war and anything Bush has done as far as foreign policy goes. Period.

you're ok.
;)
- ok_static0
Yes, I'm ok.
:)What is "insult" anyway, and i think most folks are talking about or pointing their fingers to the "government" or the "policy" rahter than the "country" or one specific "person".

a government elected by the people for the people.
even those that didnt vote

but im also proud to say america is made from people from all over the globe

insults hurt because sometimes they contain harsh truth that one refuses to accept. the founding fathers of US know this as they allow the one thing that brought these 'insults' in the first place:
freedom of speech

you better read this book

I disrespect any american who is a blind patriot and it's ok to insult them as well because they don't understand it anyway
Oh and most of those people who are against the french people, they shouldn't forget that we were amongst the first to warn them about 9/11, but again blind patriotism couldn't break free out of their holy shiny box that they live in, so fuck em
- BonSeff0
thanks pete! :P
im over the hating. you cant bitch if you didnt vote. and if you voted and didnt win.. well there's the next four years to still be an american and vote again.
a true privilage, built on years of pissed voters that continue to do it again every four years
