oh man! (LIGHTBULB OVER HEAD)
Ya know sometimes it takes looking at a method five times before you understand its full value. The LoadVars will work beautifully by calling a search I have already created on a PHP page and simply giving back the fields and values. Example:
name=dan&profession=developer&lo...
Very Nice!

thanks for the links. Basically I am using a db to store and I want to extract right from the db to flash (with no workaround text file crap).
Has anyone achieved this before? I have been trying to figure it out and if it isn't possible then I am not going to try any further.

i started with the guestbook download from http://www.retroscope.com.

ohyea...
make when you're pulling info from mysql that it works in php first.
you have no idea how many times my flash shit hasnt worked and then i discover that its because of a parsing error in a php script
but hey...im a bit of an idiot so...

PHP works well with it, but I am sure XML is doing something great with this as well

best thing to do is start off with someting reeeally simple
putting one piece of data in the db and pulling one piece of data out to display in flash. once you've got that down pat, you can expand on it and start making more complex stuff
i see a lot of people trying to interact with a databse with flash when they have so much other shit going on like animation and complex navigations and shit. bad practice in my opinion, make it work on a simple crappy little page that just displays variables in text fields, then add all your design stuff and animation
hope that helps a bit.
some good tutorials:

http://www.macromedia.com/devnet…make use of that new load vars object...its tight ;)
