Hi , id really appreciate help here . stick with meh !.

All i want , is be able to , make a database , and then be able to retrieve info in that DB , and add some too...

but i dont know what to do , im searching google like crazy and uh its pretty confusing.

What should i use , what is the easiest thing to use ?
I know PHP require Linux server.
I know ASP requires Windows server.
    I know i have a Linux server .
I dont know what Cold Fusion requires.

what is the difference between MySql and Sql , apparently there is a difference , i though that sql was just an abbreviation of mysql ...

id be willing to change to a window server if you tell me that Asp is alot more easy to learn .

right now what i want to do is just get to know how to make a database i dont even know how , and then i want to be able to add infos in that database from the web , and then be able to retrieve that info from the web...

i want to do all this because it would be great for sorting lists of things or add list of things or whatever, Currently im working on my new portfolio , and im making somekind of mini-game , and it would be nice to be able to store the Score when ure done playing , and then you could enter your name , ... then you could see the top 10 ... just like an arcade game or whatever...

    where do i start ?
im reading some SQL tutorial on w3cschool , but it doesnt seem to be what i want ? they just talk about sql , and it doesnt tell me if i need to use php or what i have to do to get the info... errr ...

IN your options that you mentioned here is the run down:

    ASP : hardest
PHP : can be easy and hard
    CF: easy

If you are low on budget you'll defnitely want to go with PHP and MySQL combination. I think you were mislead, but PHP and MySQL can be put on almost _any_ computer not just linux.

Also PHP and MySQL work wonderfully with the Apache server.

    relative links:
    http://www.php.net
    http://www.mysql.com
    http://www.apache.org

    hope that helps!
